If you look up, what do you see?

There are days when you wake up and the weather is so bad, you don’t want to leave the house.

And then there are days so gloriously filled with sunshine, they beckon you to come out and play.

Today was one of those days.

I was thrilled to bring my flip flops out of hibernation even though my feet are screaming for a pedicure.

However, pedicures can wait when you have a cloudless, blue sky and sunshine so bright it blinds you.

Looking up at the sky gave me the idea that today was the perfect day to be a good dog owner and teach Roxy some spatial terms.

And so our little miss was instructed to “look up.”

Little did we know the beauty we were to witness simply from tilting our heads back.

But it’s best I show you.

We’d only walked twenty feet when looking up yielded this:

A few hundred yards further allowed us to see this

and this:

Ten minutes into our walk, this is what we saw when looked up:

We also we saw this:

We spent so much time looking up, a bird pooped on Roxy.

As we turned to walk home, I told Roxy that another thing my nana used to say was that getting pooped on by a bird was a sign of good luck.

Roxy gave me a look that said, “Is there anything nana didn’t think brought good luck?”

How was your day today?

  1. lady, if I could watch so magnificent things just looking up, then I would look up all the time, endangering myself (I’m quite clumsy!): that’s Mother Nature in action! (I miss it, and try to enjoy my little flowerpot in my balcony, ;DDD)
    besos & flowering

    1. Mrs. Allnut, I too am the clumsy one but today, fortunately, there were no mishaps. Your balcony is quite the divine spot–little pot included! :)

  2. Unbelievable blossoms!

Roxy’s poor green neck! I was walking around one day in Sicily and a bird pooped on a girl. Her boyfriend immediately said, “E buona fortuna!” It’s good luck! (Is your nana Sicilian?) There are so many things that bring good luck here, but then there are weird things that bring bad luck–like sweeping your house on the wrong day, or getting married on the wrong day/month, and so on. I can never keep all the good and bad luck signs straight.

One of these days I’m going to post a “looking up” blog too. Not to copy you or anything!

  3. Jann, my nana is not Sicilian but she sounds like she is, doesn’t she? She was actually a little Spanish dynamo. If it’s any comfort, my Spanish family has a host of things they consider to bring good luck or bad luck as well. My mother’s favorite, never travel on a Tuesday. Go figure! By all means, do your own “looking up” post! Your photographs are always so beautiful that I would be thrilled to have a look at what you see when you look up! :)

  4. I looked up and saw fluorescent lighting. I was at work. But, your post brought a bit of sunshine indoors when I needed it most. Mondays are the worst at my job, at least I get it over for the week. So Bella and Roxy keep walking and taking pictures, you never know when your friend in Nebraska needs a lift!

    1. Aw Georgia, how nice of you to say that! I’m glad we were able to perk up your Monday! Now Roxy and I feel even more motivated to go out walking and snapping pictures. :)

    1. hahaha! Those herons are everywhere, Rowena! I’ve actually taken pictures of them in the oddest places. I’m definitely going to have to do a blog post on the invasion of the herons! :)

    1. Coming from you, with your amazing skills, I’m over the moon that you like my photos, Heidi! Thank you! :) Roxy most definitely does not agree with nana!

  5. What lovely photos Bella esp the pink blossoms ..oh how I love spring , the smells , the sights and the sounds – its the best visual treat !!

As for my day ..I had another Zumba class and my legs ..ouch – they still hurt ..if you dint live so far away I would have traded the walking outside with Roxy quicker than you would say quicker :O
Hope you had a good day today too :)
    xoxo

    1. Thank you, Priya! I love spring as well because of the beautiful reasons you’ve so eloquently mentioned! I would gladly trade Roxy’s walk for one day of zumba. After all, no pain no gain, right? :)

    1. Bernie, I had to come home and bathe her! I thought it was funny how the bird was on top of the Christ figure. :)

  6. These are such pretty pretty photos. I cannot wait for sunnier weather to hit the Midwest. It’s been cold and dreary and rainy lately. And all your pictures have inspired me to look up more often. :) instead of just looking ahead! Life seems much prettier up there!

    1. Aw Laura, you do me proud, girl! I can’t wait to see your fashion inspirations and photographs of them as the weather gets warmer!
